VBSY Unveils Northeast’s Transformative Journey: Ministers Rijiju and Lekhi Share Insights on Growth and Connectivity

New Delhi, Jan 16: A journalistic expedition embarked on the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, covering the picturesque landscapes of Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, and Himachal Pradesh. The journey culminated in a rendezvous with Union Minister for Earth Science and Himalayan Studies, Kiren Rijiju, at his residence in Delhi.

During the interaction, Rijiju provided the journalists with a detailed overview of the advancements made under various central government schemes in the northeastern region. He shared insights into the vision of the central government, envisioning substantial growth for the northeastern states in the days to come.

The team also visit Prime minister museum on the occasion.

The media team also had the privilege of meeting Meenakshi Lekhi, the Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture. In the context of the Viksit Bharat campaign, Lekhi underscored the pivotal role played by the Northeast in converging India’s Act East and Neighbourhood First Policies. Emphasizing the region’s strategic importance, she spoke about its role as a connecting point to Southeast Asia, particularly in terms of multi-modal transport connectivity.

Lekhi commended the progress in infrastructure development across India and specifically highlighted the remarkable improvements in the northeastern states. She cited the increase in operational waterways from one to seventeen since 2014 as evidence of the transformative initiatives. Arunachal Pradesh, in particular, drew praise for advancements in railway connectivity, air transport, road networks, and various recent development projects.
