One-Month Knitting Skill Dev Program Empowers Women in Arunachal Pradesh

Daporijo: In a concerted effort to empower women and foster self-reliance, the Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society, Daporijo Branch, in collaboration with the Knitting Training Group Daporijo, has organized a one-month skill development program on knitting. With the theme “Empowering Women is Key to Building a Future We Want,” the program aims to equip women with essential knitting skills that can serve as a means of livelihood.

The inauguration ceremony of the program witnessed the presence of esteemed guests and dignitaries. Mika Nyori, Deputy Commissioner of Upper Subansiri District, graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his address, he passionately appealed to the trainees to seize this opportunity and take full advantage of the skill development training, emphasizing its potential to make them self-reliant.

Adding to the motivation and inspiration, Mei Baki ZPM, representing the 12 Nalo Bango 22 constituency in Nacho Siyum, Upper Subansiri District, graced the event as the guest of honor. She shared her own personal experience of how knitting played a pivotal role in her life, enabling her to earn a livelihood. As a testament to her commitment, she generously donated two handloom sets and an abundance of wool to support the training program.

The occasion also witnessed the presence of special invitees Rago Duchok and Taring Rai, who expressed their appreciation for the organizing team’s commendable initiative. Both guests vowed to extend their full support to such noble causes in the near future.

The one-month skill development program aims to provide comprehensive training in knitting techniques, enabling women to acquire the necessary skills to generate income for themselves and their families.
