Investigation Underway in VKV Student’s Suicide Case: SP Anjaw

ITANAGAR, JUNE 25: An intense investigation has been launched into the tragic suicide of a Class X student from VKV Amiliang, with the Anjaw district Superintendent of Police, Riki Kamsi, asserting that arrests will follow should any foul play be uncovered.

The incident came to light when authorities received a distressing call on June 24, 2024, at 0700 hours, reporting the discovery of the student’s body near the Lohit river in Amiliang. Promptly responding to the scene, Officer-in-Charge of PS Hayuliang and his team conducted preliminary investigations, including photographing the scene, mapping, and an inquest led by an Executive Magistrate.

Following a post mortem examination at KPMDH Hayuliang, the deceased was handed over to the family for final rites. An initial Unnatural Death (UD) case under Section 174 of the CrPC was registered based on a written FIR filed by the father, Pitho Kri. The investigation is now broadening its scope to include aspects related to the school environment.

“All necessary legal formalities over the body have been completed, and we have handed over the body to the family members,” SP Anjaw stated. He confirmed that interviews with school faculty, students, and the deceased’s family are ongoing. During the investigation, an apology letter and diary were recovered from the deceased’s bed, which will undergo forensic examination for further insights.

“At present, no arrests have been made,” SP Anjaw clarified, underscoring that the investigation is diligently pursuing all leads. He affirmed, “If any evidence of foul play emerges, arrests will swiftly follow.”
