ITANAGAR, 28 May: With the theme of “drugs chodo, khel se jodho”, the 6th edition of state level Hangpan Dada Memorial trophy for football and volleyball (U 16 boys& girls), kick off here at Sangey Lhaden sports academy (SLSA) football ground, Chimpu on Sunday afternoon. Education and cultural affairs Minister and Arunachal Olympic association president Taba Tedir kick off the tourney amid huge gathering.
Altogether 25 districts including capital complex. The tea of Pakke kessang team was not seen during the inaugural ceremony. More than 1500 people including athletes, coaches, manager, volunteers and other officials are participating.
The tournament will played form May 28 and will been concluding on 7th June next.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony the Education and cultural affairs minister Taba Tedir said that earlier parents only insist for education but now a days every parents insist their wards to study and sport simultaneously. It is the need of hour and game and sports play a vital role in making a healthy body and sound mind and with sound mind one can opt for better future in any discipline even in sports where sky is the limit. Said Tedir.
The state government ha seen giving much importance to the sports and job reservation is there and it is great opportunity that one can also make carrier in sports and become a role model for others and alas bring name and fame for state and country. If one is selected for state level they players are also being supported by various sports organisation at last the state government provide support so that they become best player and also bring laurel for state and country and avail the job reservation policy of the estate government. The sports & Youth Affairs Minister Mama Natung in his address informed that four Wushu players from Arunachal will represent India in the coming Asian Games. We hope that more players from different sports discipline become part of the Indian delegation for the next Asian Games.
The state government is investing heavily in improvement of sports infrastructure, providing training and creating amenities and facilities for the sports person and players in various parts of state and state capital and by which the standard of players are improving. Our state is also in map of winning an several players in various discipline are getting medals and hope that with this we are planning for the next Olympic that our players form state also join the national team in next Olympic. Minister Taba Tedir declared the tournament open and also kicked off the football tournament.
The first football match was played between West Siang and capital complex which was defeated by West Siang defeated Capital Complex by 3-1.
Capital Deputy Commissioner Talo Potom, Director of Sports Tadar Appa, Director DAA G Karbak, Sports Association of Arunachal Vice Chairman Tana Sanjiv Tara, AOA Secretary general Bamanag Tago, IGP Chukhu Apa among others officers form sports and youth affairs and others were present on the occasion.
