The Cabinet has recommended the appointment of a Pro-tem Speaker and the commencement of the first Assembly Session of the 8th Legislative Assembly of Arunachal Pradesh on June 14, 2024. This session will involve administering the oath to the newly elected Members of the Legislative Assembly and the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
In a move to enhance the welfare of its citizens, the government announced the revamp of the Security Scheme, expanding its coverage to include widows, the elderly, and Divyangs. This initiative aims to ensure their dignity and improve their quality of life. Additionally, the government is committed to achieving 100% saturation of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for all schemes, ensuring targeted and timely payments to beneficiaries.
A Digital Asset Inventory will be developed for all public infrastructure, including schools, hospitals, and Anganwadi Kendras, to facilitate better planning and utilization of public assets. The Cabinet also approved the creation of a new Master Plan to modernize the twin capital city of Itanagar-Naharlagun, enhancing urban liveability and preparing it for future demands.
To address youth aspirations, the government will identify vacancies across all departments and develop annual recruitment calendars. The SEE Trinity (Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, Employment) initiative aims to provide over 25,000 employment and self-employment opportunities in the next five years. The Arunachal Olympic Sports Mission will support athletes’ participation in the 2028 and 2032 Olympic Games, complemented by a comprehensive Youth Policy focusing on education, skilling, health, entrepreneurship, community involvement, and governance participation.
To attract investments, a new Arunachal Industrial Policy will be introduced, aligning with the UNNATI Scheme from the Government of India. The upcoming ‘Arunachal Pradesh Handloom and Handicrafts Policy’ and ‘One Tribe, One Weave Mission’ aim to protect and promote indigenous textiles and handicrafts, boosting artisans’ incomes and market linkages.
A new Tourism Policy will be launched, encompassing film, farm, wine, eco-tourism, and homestays, to offer comprehensive experiences to tourists and generate employment for the youth.
