Father Arrested for Allegedly Killing Wife and Son in Longding District

ITANAGAR, AUG 24: A father has been arrested by Longding police for allegedly killing his wife and 5-month-old son at Lower School Colony in Longding district on Saturday morning, informed Longding SP Dekio Gumja.

In a statement, SP Longding said that the police received information about the incident at 6 AM and promptly responded to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the bodies of Ngamjun Gangsa and her infant child in a mysterious condition. Both bodies have been recovered, and legal formalities are being conducted.

The alleged father, who was trying to flee with his two sons, was arrested. The weapons used in the crime, including a local Dao and spade, have been seized, along with other evidence. A case has been registered at Longding Police Station (Case No-40/24 U/S 103 (1) BNS), and further investigation has been launched.

According to SP Longding, the main accused, Gangngam Gangsa (aged around 35), a resident of Kanu village, was working as a mason/farmer and has an unstable mental status. The motive behind the murder is currently unknown.

The infant child, aged around 5 months, has been identified as Phagang Gangsa.

SP Longding further stated that the police have visited the crime scene, taken photographs, drawn a rough sketch map, examined witnesses, seized the weapons and blood-stained clothes, conducted an inquest, and performed a post-mortem examination. The bodies have been handed over for last rites.
