Itanagar, August 26: The Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society (APWWS) has put forward a series of recommendations aimed at enhancing the safety and professionalism of state-sponsored events involving women. In a recent proposal, the society has emphasized the urgent need for systematic reforms within the Youth Affairs Department to protect participants and prevent exploitation.
One of the central proposals from APWWS is the establishment of a dedicated monitoring committee within the Youth Affairs Department. This committee would be tasked with overseeing the conduct and safety of all women’s events funded by the state. APWWS has recommended that the committee include a strong woman of integrity, ensuring a trustworthy and independent oversight mechanism. The society also insists that the role of this committee be enshrined in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for such events, stipulating that any serious allegations would be addressed by this panel.
To further protect the interests of women, APWWS has called for the implementation of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for the disbursement of incentives. This measure is designed to address delays and prevent harassment associated with incentive release. The society believes that clear guidelines and a streamlined process will enhance transparency and accountability in the system.
In addition to these proposals, APWWS has urged the adoption of best practices in the planning and execution of state events to prevent mismanagement and ensure the safety of all participants, particularly women.
