Lower Siang, Sep 14: In a tragic accident, a 55-year-old man and a 5-year-old girl lost their lives when their car was struck by a train while crossing railway tracks in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lower Siang district on Friday. The incident took place at Pale near Dimow around 3:50 pm.
The deceased man, identified as Rigo Riba, a sub-inspector of the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRBn) posted in Pasighat, was traveling with the young girl when their vehicle was hit by the Murkongselek-Tezpur special train. The train was heading towards Dekargaon in Tezpur, Assam, at the time of the accident.
Riba died on the spot, while the child was rushed to a hospital in Dibrugarh, Assam, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The Government Railway Police (GRP) is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
